Torsken, livet og kjærligheten

PERFORMANCE & SEMINAR
at HÅLOGALAND THEATER

The sea is a central theme for both Hålogaland Theatre, Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum and Tromsø International Film Festival. We therefore invite you to a seminar with a focus on the sea, and one of our most important resources from there: cod.

At the seminar we offer the performance "ODDS TRADER" by the art duo Tara Morhua, AKA Marita Isobel Solberg and Trond Ansten. The performance is described as a "hands-on interaction with cod", and explores treasures from the sea with the cod as the main character. The performance work was performed for the first time during the festival exhibition SUBSISENCE during the Festspillene i Nord-Norge 2017.

In the second part of the seminar, we meet Marita Solberg and Trond Ansten in conversation with film director Tomas Arslan, whose film BRIGHT NIGHTS is in this year's TIFF programme. The film was largely shot at Film Camp in Målselv, and as the title suggests, nature plays an important role in the film. Arslan is concerned with how nature influences and drives art,  and also, quite simply, he says, "how difficult it is to film nature". What role does nature play in art? How do we view nature and not least the northern Norwegian nature?

The conversation is led by Jérémie McGowan from the Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum.

Duration: 2.5 hours There will be a break between the performance and the conversation.

Havet er et sentralt tema både for Hålogaland Teater, Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum og Tromsø Internasjonale Filmfestival. Vi inviterer derfor til seminar med fokus på havet, og en av våre viktigste ressurser derfra: torsken.

På seminaret byr vi på performancen «ODDS TRADER» av kunstduoen Tara Morhua, AKA Marita Isobel Solberg og Trond Ansten. Performancen er beskrevet som en «praktisk interaksjon med torsk», og utforsker skatter fra havet med torsken som hovedkarakter. Performanceverket ble første gang fremført under festivalutstillingen SUBSISENCE under Festspillene i Nord-Norge 2017.

I seminarets andre del møter vi Marita Solberg og Trond Ansten i samtale med filmregissør Tomas Arslan som har filmen BRIGHT NIGHTS i årets TIFF-program. Filmen er i stor grad spilt inn på Film Camp i Målselv, og som det går fram av tittelen spiller naturen ei viktig rolle i filmen. Arslan er opptatt av hvordan natur påvirker og driver kunsten,  og også, ganske enkelt, sier han, «hvor vanskelig det er å filme natur». Hvilken rolle får naturen i kunsten? Hvordan ser vi på naturen og ikke minst den nordnorske naturen?
